Scope
SKB is located in Oskarshamn in Sweden . It's a hard-rock laboratory especially build to do mock-up test and experiments on new technologies to store nuclear waste. Different setups are being tested and evaluated, also different types of measurement equipment are being tested and evaluated. There are 2 prototype repository experiments. One of them is installed in the vertical way and one of them is mounted in a big borehole in the horizontal way. The sealing of the canister containing the nuclear waste to the hard-rock environment will be based on bentonite blocks.

The objective of this project is to monitor the behaviour of the sealing material under different conditions: Both prototypes experiments have been equipped with Fibre Optic sensors for measuring pressure and temperatures.
