Aerospace
FOS&S' fibre optic sensing systems offer a number of critical advantages for the aerospace industry. Importantly, fibre optic sensors are exceptionally thin and hence can be embedded in composite structures. Composite materials are used increasingly in the aerospace industry due to their high strength, low weight and high resistance to fatigue. FOS&S sensing solutions can monitor the occurrence and growth of damage in composite elements by monitoring the stress and strain inside the structures. This is not possible with other measurement systems available today.
